  1. Thanks for arriving on my blog!

Guess what? I think you hit pay dirt! I don’t know how much you have read into my blog (beyond the frequent musical parts) but I have a looooooong history with surfing. Amateur contestant, surf team manager, pro surfer, surf coach…So any questions…let me know!

    • Wow! You sound like you’ve had an amazing surfing life! I’m just a kook at the moment so I will definitely hit you up for tips! I ride a 7’6″ Minimal and frequently nosedive, but I also get the green waves at high-tide. Low-tide is rough. I’m transitioning down to a 6’4″ (I know I know a HUGE drop but I have ridden it successfully before buying) so I’m hoping to get onto bigger waves and eventually travel to different surf spots once I get the knack and the confidence.

      • It’s good you have a plan. One of the most important things when paddling is to start long before the wave comes to you and commit. It is better to wipe out and do the dive under the lip as compared to being stuck in the lip and going over the falls. I would work on techniques with the pop up as well. That is a good place to start!

As far as my past goes…it was entertaining. I can say that for sure! Ha ha!

      • It is certainly better to nose it than go over the falls. I’ve gone over the falls twice on waves about 6-8ft: not pleasant! Aaargh. All part of my journey though so I just try to enjoy the learning curve!

  2. Hello newest Spikey and new BFF of Jessica.

Spikey, yeah I know, a bit corny, eh, but that’s the term that has come to stick for those folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

My aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations on life as I see it, thrown in for good measure.

My promise to you is not to be overbearing, just a couple of posts a day, maybe 3 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…
