Ocean, don’t leave me

Ocean, don't leave me

The water rushes to me, greeting me. You’ve been away far too long it whispers. There’s not much time left so I embrace it back, closing my eyes at its fresh familiarity. The sand washes away and the water chases it. Wait, I think…don’t leave me. Ocean, I need you. You’re a part of my soul. Then it comes back. Because it always does. I dread walking away, though I know the ocean will never leave me because it’s inside me. It has my heart, thrumming away like the tides.
