Luckily for me I have a super-handy partner! I feel blessed that he could not only fix my surfboard for me (I hit a rock with the fin and exposed the foam) but he was also willing to teach me how to fix it.
We used a dremel to remove the broken glass around the fin box and roughed the plastic to make for good adhesion of the West Systems Epoxy resin. We pulled the fin box back out so it was level and flush in its original position, then applied the Epoxy in two stages with a 24-hour period break to allow for it to cure.
I’m officially ready to hit the water again!
